Providing Real Value on Your Myspace Blog
Mary K's post yesterday on passion leads perfectly into what I want to talk about today. Which is sharing yourself in your blog.
This is a method I have been using in MY blog, but not at my myspace blog. duh! Once you find some friends, some people who are similar to you, who like the things you like you have built a kind of "opt in" list for yourself. People work really hard to build "opt in" lists and you already have one. Whether you have 5 friends or 5000 friends, you have a list.
Now a lot of internet marketers just shoot off messages to their list about the latest and greatest product they are trying to sell. I don't know about you, but those are the lists I unsubscribe from! The lists where I get some good quality information, sprinkled with links to where I can find more information ~ and that may include a product I can buy ~ I keep those. In fact I make seperate little folders in my email program and save them!!!
This is exactly what we are going to do at myspace. Instead of sending out emails, we are going to write in our blog.
What you want to do is come up with an informative, valuable article that gives some information to your friends. At the end of your post you can point them in the direction of more information, whether that is your website, an affiliate site, your coaching page, wherever you think they may find more information or something that will allow them to take what you are showing them further.
This is where having a clear picture of who you want for friends comes in handy, as you can invite people to be your friends who you know will be looking for the information you are going to share.
Your articles don't have to be books, they can, in fact, be a short list, something you've learned, anything at all that is valuable to your friends. Once you have your posts written and published in your myspace blog you want to let your friends know you have provided them with some information.
This is where they myspace bulletin feature comes in handy. It will allow you to notify ALL of your friends about your new blog post. This bulletin doesn't have to be fancy, you're talking to your friends after all. Just let them know you have posted a new article with some information about such and such that you think they may enjoy!
Your friends will read your bulletin, and will stop by your blog. You may even get a few subscribers. The first time you may not get much don't worry, it takes some time to build up trust. Just continue to do this 2 to 3 times a week. In fact, I wouldn't do it more than 3 times a week. Provide quality blog posts and let your friends know about them. Over time, and probably not much time, you will develop a trust with your readers. They will come to look forward to your posts and will eventually feel very comfortable clicking your links and buying from you.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them in the comments section. :) We love to talk with our readers.
Good luck and have fun.
