Day 10 ~ Mary K

WOW! Day 10 - and still going!

Today found me not accomplishing all the planned tasks.
The unexpected opportunities that arose today pulled me away from
my computer for far longer than anticipated. This is one point for getting
the tasks related to this experiment done earlier in the day - and I'm still
going to listen to my internal rhythms and follow those down the road to success! ;-)

What I DID accomplish is as follows --

A final update on a lens - 15 minutes

Wrote an article - 1 hour

Received $30.15 !!!!!

And that's it! And I still feel like celebrating as today I'm turned on, tuned in and tapped in to the certainty that that hour and fifteen minutes is a step in the direction I intend to go!!!

Can't wait to see what tomorrow brings. See ya then!

Day 10 ~ Jackie Lee

Today I hit writer's block! I started to panic a little, but decided to just go with it. I puttered around for a while getting Hanna breakfast thinking about what I could write about today.

It took me an hour or so to think of idea to help me think of an idea to write about. :) I went to a forum and looked through topics there to see if it would inspire a topic, and sure enough it did.

I wrote an article today on free advertising online. In fact it was a top 10 list which are really good articles to write if you are trying to get people to publish your article. List articles seem to get picked up pretty well for me.

Once I got an idea the day started flowing pretty well. Here's how it panned out.

Looking for an idea/doing other things: 1 hour
researching idea/keywords: 20 minutes
Writing article: 20 minutes
Posted at Ezine Articles: 15 minutes
Stumbled my Myspace page: 2 minutes

I decided to stumble my page after watching an interesting video about Stumble Upon yesterday. Click here to watch the video.

That's about it so far today. Look forward to seeing you tomorrow.

Jackie Lee :) (wow wasn't that short) ;)

Day 9 ~ Mary K

Yes! It does appear that consistent daily actions are making a difference visible on the 'bottom line' as well as in terms of personal growth and honing my vibration!!!

Today I checked my sales (which is NOT something I think to do daily)
and much to my amazement I saw..... $415.32!!

Now that isn't the same as my 'earnings' but I'm definitely on my way!!!

So...here's how today shaped up -

  • Edited/updated my Squidoo lens - 30 min
  • Wrote an article on launching a business for free -1 hour
  • Posted an ad - 10 min
  • Posted to blog - 10 min
  • Pinged and bookmarked - 15 min. (only took that long because I added some sites)
Only 2 hours 5 min. today... That's about perfect as I have other commitments to attend to. I'm thrilled to realize we're not even halfway through our little experiment here and the growth and changes have been simply AMAZING!

In addition to wanting to test the Bum Marketing tactics and hopefully generate some cash for myself personally, one of my big personal intentions around this experiment is to find a simple system that doesn't require more than a couple of hours a day that I can share with others who would like to earn money online! Gaining clarity around all of this has been a HUGE gift to me and seeing results that I'm excited to share in order to make a contribution to others, well... that just gets me over the top EXCITED!!!!

I'm filled with APPRECIATION!!!!
Thank YOU!

Day 9 ~ Jackie Lee

Can you even believe it? It's day 9 already. The first thing I'd like to share today is a celebration share. I made another sale yesterday!!! Woo HOO That's another $12.00. All of the traffic to that product is coming through my How to Create Backlinks lens at squidoo. I think this is kind of interesting because I also have this product on my Add More Friends lens and it is not doing anything over there. This tells me a couple things. Keywords really matter and the mindset of your consumer matters as well. People looking for backlinks are more likely to want to add a lot of backlinks than someone who is just looking for basic Myspace info.

WOW another bit of celebrating. I just googled my keywords for this lens with NO quotes. How to create backlinks, and my squidoo lens is number 1 out of 1,850,000 listings.!! woo hoo. Well that really shows the method works. AND you really have to choose your keywords well. Which I must admit is my least favorite part and I don't always do such a great job of researching them. But, How to create backlinks was a winner!!!

I'd also like to mention another reason why I think this product sells. I use it. I use it everyday, to help me grow backlinks as well as add friends at myspace. I definitely think it matters, and I know the "gurus" say it doesn't, but knowing what I know of the law of attraction I really think it matters if you use the product and are familiar with it. I find it difficult to write energetically about something I know nothing about. I don't have any stories to tell about the product and personally I feel like a liar when I'm recommending something I don't have the foggiest idea about. I also think people can feel the energy of those writings as much as the positive energy that comes out for things I use and love.

My recommendation would be to find some products you either use everyday in your life, or your business and then promote those. As you make some money you can get some other products, maybe more expensive products related to life or business, use them and then recommend them. Nothing wrecks your reputation faster than promoting a less than stellar product.

Ok on to my day.

Today I wrote an article about getting free network marketing leads. Free network marketing leads were my keywords. I found a couple new places to post my article. Associated Content will actually pay you for content, one of two ways. Up front for quality articles or by how many page views your articles get. The page views is between any and all article you publish there so it can add up pretty quickly if you are posting daily I imagine. Scribd.com is the other spot. I heard a podcast the other day and the guy said he gets a top 10 google listing within 6 minutes using this service. We shall see. It is pretty cool. Both of these places allow you to submit articles, video, audio, just about anything you want to get out there.

Research keywords: 20 minutes
Write article: 30 minutes
Post at 3 places: 30 minutes
Rework Myspace page ~ who knows.

Today my article was about using your story on myspace and other social networking sites to get free leads. It really works, and last night I was on a conference call and learned some new techniques to use on my pages. I love playing around on myspace, so it could be an all day time waster, but not really because it gets a yes answer to the question: Does this directly, in the now, serve my intention to do one thing and do it well. Getting leads definitely serves that purpose.

So please feel free to stop by and say hi over at Myspace and I will yak atcha later!!

Many Blessings!

Day 8 ~ Mary K

Today was a day for regrouping, rethinking, reorganizing and learning!

This 30 Day Experiment has opened my eyes to the need for clarity and a singularity of focus. In Bum Marketing the author suggests a limited number of activities...consistently applied, will result in traffic and sales. I'm still trusting it will and I suspect it's going to take a bit of time.

I've also come to realize that I need to take steps to brand and promote ME.inc -- because leaving it all up to the search engines means I want to really zero in on very specific key words that define the niche I'm promoting to... and though the light goes on slowly it's finally dawning! ;-)

So today I added to the three lenses I created since starting this program.
Time spent - 2 hours

Then I chose to spend 30 minutes meeting and interacting with people who seem to be interested in my Parenting/Child related lenses

There was actually more than this 2 hours 30 minutes spent on activities related to this experimental project... but only around the edges so we'll leave it at that!

After a long night with no sleep I'm off to bed to catch up with that so I'll be ready to start fresh in the A.M. Until then please know...

I appreciate you!

EXPECT MIRACLES!

Day 8 ~ Jackie Lee

Hi and Happy Wednesday,

I had another one of those "couldn't stop thinking" nights, which means I've been up forever. Although it kind of sucks that I am not getting any sleep, I am especially appreciating the ideas and clarity I am gaining.

This morning I was thinking about why I am not experiencing the level of success, monetarily, in my life I would like. I was reviewing the ways I have money coming in and decided to make a list of all of the things I am involved in. Here's what the list looked like

  • 8 major programs/projects needing active marketing
  • 7 affiliate programs (off the top of my head)
  • 3 products currently in production
  • 3-5 things that need daily attention to be effective
  • And a toddler who needs attention every 4 minutes or so
Does the saying "Jackie of all Trades . . ." come to mind? It certainly did for me. I began to think about all the people I "know" who have attained the kind of success I hope to enjoy. It occurred to me that they all do one thing and do it really well.

Bill Gates ~ Computers. He doesn't try to be a chef. Donald Trump ~ Real Estate. He doesn't try to build computers. I have noticed myself so far in this challenge that by doing 1 thing, staying focused, results happen.

What I do think is slightly askew for me in this experiment is the lack of focus in promotion. Each day looking for new products, new keywords, new focus. It feels to me like I am not able to give anything my all because I am doing so many things.

I teach a type of marketing called "Vibrational Marketing." The basic crux of my marketing approach is wonderfully expressed in this quote from Richard Bach's book Illusions:

Just be who you are calm and clear and bright. Automatically, as we shine who we are, asking ourselves every minute is this what I really want to do, doing it only when we answer yes, automatically that turns away those who have nothing to learn from who we are and attracts those who do, and from whom we have to learn as well.

To me the "be who you are calm, clear and bright" is the action step. It's the "shuffle your feet" while you pray. If I am experiencing lackof clarity, don't have time, energy, inclination, suffer from information overload, guilt, frustration I can't SHINE who I REALLY AM.

I am light, love, abundance and joy. That is what I want to shine. Those are the people I want to attract, people who want to learn about BEing those things and using them in our day to day lives. People who have more to teach me about it too.

So to make a VERY long story short :) I have decided to add a little experiment of my own to this experiment. I am letting go of actively promoting/working/shining everything but my main business. I am going to be an example of Do one thing and do it well.

This is kind of scary for me for a number of reasons.
  • Worried about the reactions of others ~ letting them down
  • Having to actually stick to one thing ~ don't know if I can
  • Fear of getting bored
Mostly number one really. I am a big piece of the puzzle on a number of projects and I don't want to disappoint anyone or let anyone down. I know this is the right move though, because as soon as I came to this realization this morning I was able to sleep. Too bad it was 6:30a by then and I had to get up. :)

From now on I will be asking myself this question: "Does this directly, in the now, serve my intention to do one thing and do it well?" If it does, then great let's go get it done. If not, I will have to pass.

In that vein, I have asked myself if participating in the 30 Day Experiment serves my intention. It does. I think it is a great action step toward my intention. The only thing I will change is I will only be promoting my one thing, instead of lots and lots of things.

Wow, sorry that was so long, three and a half hours of thought all packed into one post.

Here's how the morning stacked up for me.

  • I wrote an article reviewing an ebook related to my one thing. 30 min
  • I added information about the book on my Newbie Tools Squidoo Lens ~ it's a great product for people new to the internet to read before they get sucked in by amazing sales copy. I thought about adding it to the Online book review lens, but didn't. I may do that later today. 15 minutes
  • Bookmarked and Pinged the lens. 5 minutes
Using Only Wire allows me to post to 15 different bookmarking sites at the same time. It's a one click process ~ after initial setup, which is a pain but worth it in the long run.

Mary K mentioned Pingoat as her favorite pinging site. I happen to like FeedShark. It allows me to send out pings to both blog directories as well as RSS feed directories at the same time.

Well that's enough from me today!!
I'll chat at ya later. Feel free to contact me if you want to talk more about Doing one thing. :)

Day 7 ~ Mary K

We're looking good today! Although my body rhythms are are a bit off-beat from the rest of the world as I find myself meeting the approaching winter with a desire to sleep all day and prowl all night, I must say it's another good point for working from home on the Internet -- it's a 24/7 kind of thing! ;-)

(*Speaking of working from home I've included a video below sharing some of the risks around NOT working from home. Perhaps it should be titled, "Are long-distance co-workers a safer situation?" ;-))

Okay... today's work was done quite quickly. I'm starting to see how this builds upon itself. You may have gather after reading a bit from each of the three of us, we all entered this 30 Day Experiment with different levels of having certain things already in place. Jackie, for instance, right from the start had a very substantial amount of experience in working with many of these tools and came in with a pretty good handle on Internet Marketing. Kat, on the other hand is very new to many of the tools (I'm referring to things like Squidoo and USFreeAds and Social Bookmarking sites, etc as tools here) and is a different spot in her learning curve around a variety of this things. I find myself somewhere in between the two... discovering I know both more and less than I thought and still very excited to forge onward!!! ;-)

Today I was able to spend my time tweaking and editing things that I had already created so it was all less time consuming. It's easy to see how there is definitely an ebb and flow to this marketing stuff as there is to most things in life. Keep that in mind as you travel along in your marketing ventures and realize that you're not alone!

So here's my 'time sheet' for today:

Jingle Bells Squidoo Lens - 45 minutes
(edited and then marketed by sharing my link with more people in more places)

Wrote article - 45 minutes (Because one of the things my lens is going to share more and more of is holiday fundraising events I wrote an article about the holidays and the spirit of giving)

Blog post - 15 minutes (similar theme to the article but more general)

TOTAL: 1 hour 45 minutes

Until tomorrow...
thanks!

Day 7 ~ Jackie Lee

Good Morning!

I woke up at 4 am today, Spirit help me. Hanna woke up and then just as I got her to sleep the dog started barking, then he quieted down, but my favorite little Idea Fairy showed up. At about 5:30a I decided to stop fighting the ideas and just get up. I thought I could do one or two things and then be able to go to bed.

Right in the middle of what I was doing the ELECTRICITY goes OUT! Yeah, I have that kinda power ya know ;). I live in the middle of nowhere, so when the electricity goes out it is DARK. I stumbled upstairs and cracked my toe on Hanna's slide. As I laid back in bed, the lights came back on. :) Yay.

I am pretty excited about this idea the lovely little fairy brought me last night AND I remember yesterday, and my insight that I need to get this done early.

I dragged myself away from my new project and got to work. It went easily and effortlessly, and here I am posting before 9am with everything done. WOo HOo!!

Here's how the morning shaped up:

Wrote article ~ 30 minutes
Submitted to two sites ~ 15 minutes
Added new article to squidoo lens ~ 15 minutes
Pinged and Bookmarked ~ 5 minutes

Just over an hour today! It's getting easier. I am finding it is helpful to make an overall lens for the topic of the week. It takes much less time to add something to the lens than to start a whole new one each day.

I learned a trick yesterday that allows me to link directly to the specific module of the product of the day! This makes it really nice for this process, because now people don't have to look through the whole lens. You can lead them directly to what you were talking about in your article. Of course they can then look around and see what else you have, ;) but there is continuity from the article.

That's it, now with the work done I'm off to take more inspired action on the new project!

See ya tomorrow, if not sooner.

Jackie Lee :)

Day 6 ~ Mary K

Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells...

I love the holidays, though have to confess, Thanksgiving is my least favorite so I'm happily bypassing it and getting into the swing of the more wintery holiday!

And I've been humming Christmas songs all day building inspiration for my holiday lens over at squidoo.com. I think this will be a far more efficient week than last week and I'm pretty excited about that! ;-) For one thing, I won't be creating several lenses... I will be adding daily to this lens. ;-)

I am please to share that my articles from last week have been accepted over at ezinearticles and as Jackie points out...it's a bit of a wait for a 30 Day Experiment. So I'll continue to submit over there and advise others to do so but won't recommend it for turning over any kind of quick cash!

So here's how my time went today:

Created a new "jingly" Squidoo Lens - 1 hour
! blog post (about the above mentioned lens ;-)) - 45 min
Started an article - 1 hour (I'll tighten it up and submit it tomorrow)
Pinged and Bookmarked - 15-20 minutes

So again... I'm looking at 3 hours time. Which I have no problem with... and will actually revel in the fact as cash starts to flow in! LOL

Thanks all...gotta run, chestnuts roasting on an open fire.... FIRE?!!?! Bye....

Day 6 ~ Jackie Lee

Good Afternoon Everyone!

Yes I said afternoon, whew, this day just got away from me. AND that's ok.

This week I've started a new topic I am going to focus on for the whole week. I had to do some research on keywords, and then I also had to some research to find a good affiliate company to go with my products. Finding a company that had what I was looking for took a little longer than I thought it was going to.

Then I had a lot of interruptions from the little one this morning, which made the whole process a little harder to keep track of.

Here's where I went astray. I opened my email before I did my work. ;) In fact I opened my email, and read it, and followed some bunny trails and when I looked up it was the time I am usually doing this post. eeeek. It's kind of like Mary K noticed last week, although the opposite. It seems much harder for me to get this done if I leave it past 9am.

I did get it all done, but here it is almost 2pm and I haven't gotten anything else done yet. Although it is almost 5 hours from the time I started if I only added the time I was actually working it probably did not take me more than 3 hours all together.

I also ran into another snag. I have posted 10 articles at ezinearticles.com. Once you hit the 10 article mark you have to apply for a free upgrade so you can post more articles. It seems kind of dumb to me frankly to upgrade for a free membership, but that's the way it is. I'm still waiting on them to review my 10th article and then I have to apply and who knows how long that process takes, so I also spent some time looking for other article directories to post my article in.

I am still only posting in two places, but I am hoping to find places that will post my article much quicker, so I can get the process rolling a little quicker.

Today I:
Wrote an article: 15 minutes
Created new squidoo lens: probably 1 1/2 hours
Found affiliate program: 30 minutes
Figured out how to create affiliate link with new program: 15 minutes
Looked for new article directory: 10 minutes
Pinged /bookmarked: 2 minutes

That's how my day went. All and all not too bad, I did stick with it and get it done. Tomorrow Iw will get on it first thing, and save email as a reward for work completed. :)

Have an amazing day.

Jackie Lee :)
